We are actively looking for top quality graduate students to join our lab. If you're interested in exploring this option, you should visit the graduate program website. Note that while we currently only offer a masters degree option at this point, we will soon be offering a PhD degree track as well. If you're interested in joining the lab (and spending time on the gorgeous campus shown in the picture on the left), it may be helpful to get in touch with Nate Tenhundfeld before applying. Please note, however, that it is by no means necessary and all applications will be given equal consideration!
Working as an undergraduate RA (research assistant) is an awesome opportunity to get research experience, especially for those interested in eventually going to graduate school. RAs in the ATTAC lab will be involved in everything from designing research studies and running participants, to presenting the research at conferences and maybe even helping to write the papers we would be publishing! Our expectation is that any undergraduate who joins the lab must be able to commit to 10 hours/week (exceptions can be made on very rare occasions).
Because of the interdisciplinary nature of human factors research, we accept students from every different major. Our only expectations of you are that you are willing to work hard, in a team environment, and be passionate about the scientific process and shaping the future!
If you're interested in becoming an undergraduate RA in the ATTAC lab, you should email Nate Tenhundfeld with answers to the below:
1) What year and major are you here at UAH?
2) Do you have research experience in other research labs? If so, which ones?
3) What about the research we are doing excites you the most? What's a research study you would propose given what we study in the lab?
4) What experience do you have with various technologies? For example, do you have a lot of gaming experience? What about VR? Do you know how to code? Are you a hacker/builder/maker/tinkerer?
